Phantom Forest is about an interior world rather than a literal landscape.
The towering trees serve as archetypal symbols of memory, endurance, and the unconscious mind. This forest is a place where forgotten narratives, buried emotions, and collective memory come together.
The trees are rendered only in line work to look like skeletal forms or ghosts of memory. The result is an impression that they are felt more than seen. The interlocking branches create a canopy that offers both shelter and confinement, reflecting the dual nature of memory itself: protective, yet capable of obscuring clarity.
In this painting color functions as emotion rather than natural light. Green suggests growth, renewal, and life; purple evokes mystery and spirituality; yellow represents moments of revelation emerging from uncertainty. The colors flow and merge across the surface, to mirror the way memories, dreams, and emotions continually reshape one another.
