As an artist, I am endlessly fascinated by the mysteries of the deep ocean
and the creatures that inhabit it. “Lost World” features an antique map
background, symbolizing the vastness and complexity of the sea. The
elaborate compass serves as a guide for those who dare to venture into
the unknown waters.
But the subject is the magnificent octopus that surrounds the compass. Its
tentacles swirl and reach out, hinting at the creature's power and ability to
ensnare its prey. The octopus is a symbol of mystery and danger, evoking
both fear and awe in those who encounter it.
I am drawn to the octopus not only for its intriguing place in mythology
and popular culture, but also for its fascinating biology and behavior. As a
highly intelligent and solitary creature, the octopus represents a sense of
independence and self-reliance that I find admirable.
This piece captures the essence of the octopus and the deep ocean, reminding viewers of the wonder and danger that exists in the unexplored depths. Consider your personal uncharted territory, whether it is out in the world or inside yourself.
