Other World is about emotional terrain. Using acrylic and altered torn paper on canvas this work shows a landscape that is an echo of somewhere real but filtered through imagination.
The rocky desolate foreground suggests emotional barrenness, while subtle hints of green point to persistence and renewal. Dark mountains symbolize looming challenges and unknown futures. Clouds of torn paper represent memory and experience that have been broken apart and reassembled into new meaning.
Emerging from behind the rocks an intentionally ambiguous orange glow is either sunrise or sunset. It is a light that symbolizes the dual nature of change where an ending is also a beginning.
